All of my Creations are One-Of-A-Kind, in that no two will ever be identical. Though I may use the same pattern and/or fur, natural variations in the real fur will produce a unique teddy bear - a particular pattern will finish completely different using one fur instead of another. In addition to my Recycled Real Fur Teddy Bears and other Real Fur Creations, I do some work with Mohair and Woven Japanese Silk. Variety IS the Spice of Life!
I design my own patterns, painstakingly tweaking curves and lines to work best with my medium of real fur. I line each cut fur piece with a cotton or cotton/poly blend prior to sewing to provide strength and durability to the finished product. Each teddy bear is completely overcast-sewn by hand; the head is then hand backstitch sewn, and the body is machine sewn. I add contrast to the Bear in the Paw Pads and other parts with complementing Ultrasuede or a different fur. My Polymer Clay noses are all hand sculpted by me, and no two are alike. I mold each nose around a metal loop prior to curing, so each nose can be securely attached to the bear's muzzle by nylon thread. I usually use my Polymer Clay noses on my Real Fur Teddy Bears as I prefer the individuality each nose presents. Noses on my Fabric critters are hand embroidered, and I will occasionally embroider a nose on real fur. All of my Creations have mouths that are embroidered of Pearle Cotton or Floss. I use only the highest quality Premium glass eyes for my animals, hand-matching them prior to attaching. My Creations are jointed using Cotterpins, Locknuts, and Hardboard Discs at the neck, arms, and legs so they may be moved and posed in many appealing ways. They are firmly stuffed with premium Polyfil, with a bit of Steel Shot (BB's) in their tummies for a nice, hefty feel. I spend approximately 3 weeks from design to completion on each of my Creations.
I take Special Orders on a limited basis, as I am still working outside the home full time and must budget my creative process accordingly. Completion time for your Special Order will be approximately two months, depending on my Show Schedule. If you see a Creation on my site that is not available in the Orphanage and I have the necessary fur available, I may be able to create a similar critter for you.
I can also design and create an Heirloom for you from your own fur, which can also be "themed" to a memory associated with your fur. Costs for Heirloom Fur Teddy Bears start at $175 per bear and
will vary with the type and condition of fur you have and the size of bear you want.
My Handmade Creations are not suitable for children's toys, as there are many small parts which may pose a hazard to small children.
